The key difference between them that the GDP is domestic, it has the total of production and services but by the nationals and foreigners together so the outsiders who is working inside the country are contributing with this calculations but the GNP is national and it means only the people who has the nationality of this country where ever they are working and making income. GDP is used inside the formula of the GNP and the formulas are, GDP = consumption + investment + government spending + (exports - imports) while the GNP = GDP + NR – NP. Notice that (NR = net income receipts, NP = net payment).
